Drugs and gambling—two types of vices whose combination can have a significant effect on a person. For some gamblers, the influence of addictive substances can be a trigger, easily leading them into a vicious cycle of two or more addictions. But why is gambling under the influence of certain substances so alluring? What is the connection between gambling and drugs? In this podcast, we’ll explore the complex relationship between gambling and drug use while also describing strategies based on the principle of harm reduction. What can I do, and where can I turn for help? Is there any protection provided by the government? What is the Excluded Persons Registry, and how can a gambler be added to it? What does this mean for loved ones? What are the financial implications? These questions will be answered by František Trantina, B.A. (addiction specialist at the First Faculty of Medicine, General University Hospital), Martin Šabo, M.Eng. (Director of Procedural Affairs and Gambling Regulation), and František Dušek, M.A. (attorney at the Dušek-Dušková law firm).
